The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

Release Date: Dec 25, 2008
Runtime: 2 hr. 47 min.
Director: David Fincher
Cast: Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett, Taraji Henson, Julia Ormond, Jason Flemyng.

Just like the title of this film, the trailer had intrigued my curiosity. With incredible special effects and cinematography, a story is told of a unique character who ages in reverse while loving one woman. It was surreal to see such a drastic change of Brad Pitt as an elderly man to a youthful 18-year-old. Even Cate Blanchett shined as his love interest and talented ballet dancer. Though the story runs its course over a duration of 3 hours, it's sufficient enough to portray character development and a story of unrelenting love. Think "Forrest Gump" meets "The Notebook." The major flaw occurs when Benjamin Button grows younger and meets his demise. It didn't make much sense in relation to the film development. Also, the dialogue occasionally felt cheesy or out of place. Nevertheless, this film is worth watching on the big screen for sheer acting and visual creativity. 'Absolutely.'
