Despite low expectations for a rom-com that is utterly predictable, "The Proposal" is probably the next best comedic performance of Sandra Bullock since 2000's "Miss Congeniality," which may or may not say much about the star. Though the pairing of Bullock and Reynolds seems offbeat, they banter and argue surprisingly well, offering laughs throughout the film. A memorable scene is when instant messaging plays a significant role in how employees communicate about their insufferable boss, something most of us are familiar with. The supporting cast is forgettable, however, except for Betty White who is a delight as the doting grandmother. All in all, a decent movie that breaks up the monotony of sequels this summer.
